Need your opinions about this guy..please help?

Well, that's a bit of a tough situation. From my view point though it sounds like maybe he wanted more out of the relationship, but is afraid to ask. If you think about it, he did get a bit upset when he found out there was another man in the picture, and that's about the time he started trying to distance himself. Perhaps he thinks that you're the one who doesn't want more, and is afraid that you'll turn him down if he asks you to take the relationship to a new level. I could be very wrong, but this seems to me to be a clic case of a man shielding himself when he thinks he could be rejected.
