Can u break ur ankle and not know it, not cry, and can walk on it?

My friend broke her ankle in a soccer game but she didnt even noticed and played the rest of the half, while my other friend broke her ankle in a bball game and she screamed and wailed and cried and coudnt move at all. The 1st girl was walking on it the next day with just a brace on (no cast she was limping slightly) but the 2nd girl couldnt go to school the next day and shes in a real cast and on crutches. they r both tough atheletes and broke the bone all the way but how come 1 friend didnt notice and the other screamed her brains out?
